Celem pracy jest przedstawienie działalności instytucji Kościoła katolickiego w Izraelu oraz opisanie przebiegu relacji dyplomatycznych po między Stolicą Apostolską a Państwem Izrael. Katolicy stanowią małą grupę religijną w Izraelu. Oprócz Kościoła rzymskokatolickiego w Izraelu mieszkają także wierni katolickich Kościołów wschodnich. Głównymi instytucjami kościelnymi działającymi w Izraelu są Łaciński Patriarchat Jerozolimy oraz Kustodia Ziemi Świętej, które prócz działalności religijnej prowadzą działalność edukacyjną, medyczną, informacyjną oraz zajmują się ruchem pielgrzymkowym katolików przybywających do świętych miejsc chrześcijaństwa. Izrael oficjalnie nawiązał stosunki dyplomatyczne ze Stolicą Apostolską 30 grudnia 1993 roku wraz z podpisaniem Umowy podstawowej, rozmowy trwały długo ze względu na trudny charakter relacji pomiędzy dwoma krajami.

The main Catholic institutions operating in Israel are the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land. In addition to religious activities, carry out educational, medical, informational activities and are involved in the pilgrimage movement of Catholics who come to the holy places of Christianity. Israel officially established diplomatic relations with the Holy See on December 30, 1993 with the signing of the Basic Agreement, the talks lasted for a long time due to the difficult relations between the two countries.
