From warrior to knight. The transformation and legacy od early medieval warriors

Napisana przeze mnie praca licencjacka przedstawia charakterystykę wczesnośredniowiecznych wojów oraz stanu rycerskiego, na terenie Polski. Obie te grupy zostają poddane analizie aby móc porównać je i odnaleźć wspólne cechy które pozostały niezmienne pomimo upływu wieków. Praca zaczyna się od genezy drużyny książęcej i przekształceniu tej jednostki wojskowej, aż stała się stanem rycerskim. W pracy scharakteryzowany został obyczaj rycerski, przy jednoczesnym wyszukiwaniu podobieństw do rytuałów wojów z okresu początku państwa polskiego. W kolejnym etapie opisane zostaje przekształcenie poszczególnych elementów uzbrojenia siecznego oraz obronnego, a także znaczenie jakie odegrała jazda konna w procesie kształtowania się stanu rycerskiego.Praca stara się udowodnić, że stan rycerski nie był grupą wywodzącą się z okresu pełnego średniowiecza lecz miał swą genezę już za czasów nowo ochrzczonego państwa polskiego, a wojowie byli jego początkowym etapem, oraz zainteresować tematem średniowiecznej wojskowości.

My Bachelor's thesis presents the characteristics of early medieval warriors and the knightly state, on Polish lands. Both groups are analysed in order to compare them and find common features that have remained stable throughout the centuries. The work begins with the origins of the princely squad and the transformation of this military unit until it became the knightly state. The Bachelor characterises knightly customs, while looking for similarities to the rituals of warriors from the period of the beginning of the Polish state. In the next chapter, the transformation of particular elements of offensive and defensive armament is described, as well as the importance that horse riding played in the process of the formation of the knightly state.The Bachelor tries to prove that the knightly state was not a group originating in the full Middle Ages, but had its origins at the time of the newly baptised Polish state, and that the warriors were just its initial stage, and to arouse interest in the subject of medieval military science
