"FRANKENSTEIN" MARY SHELLEY I JEGO ADAPTACJE ANALIZA WZAJEMNYCH WPŁYWÓW

Niniejsza praca przedstawia analizę trzech adaptacji i ich efektu na postrzeganie oryginału by udowodnić, że adaptacja i tekst oryginalny mają na siebie wzajemny wpływ. Analiza została przeprowadzona na podstawie trzech znanych adaptacji pochodzących z trzech kolejnych stuleci – przedstawienia "Presumption; or, the Fate of Frankenstein", filmu "Frankenstein" z 1931 roku oraz filmu "Victor Frankenstein" z 2015 roku. Praca zestawia ze sobą przedstawienie głównych postaci, wybranych scen i problemy moralne w fabule, jak i również ogólny odbiór i wpływ, jaki adaptacje miały na oryginał oraz na kolejne adaptacje. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia kontekst powstania powieści "Frankenstein, czyli współczesny Prometeusz". Drugi rozdział skupia się na analizie dwóch adaptacji – przedstawienia "Presumption" i filmu "Frankenstein". Ostatni rozdział skupia się na ogólnym wpływie na kulturę popularną i analizie filmu "Victor Frankenstein".

This thesis analyses three adaptations and their impact on the perception of the original to prove that the influence of the adapted text and its adaptations is reciprocal. The study is conducted on three known adaptations from three consecutive centuries – the play Presumption; or, the Fate of Frankenstein, the 1931 film Frankenstein, and the 2015 film Victor Frankenstein. The thesis juxtaposes the portrayal of the main characters, certain scenes and the moral problems in the plot, as well as the overall receptions and the influence the adaptations had on the original and one another. The first chapter presents the origins of the novel Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus. The second chapter focuses on the analysis of the first two adaptations – Presumption and Frankenstein. The last chapter concentrates on the general influence on the popular culture and the analysis of Victor Frankenstein.
