This study explores the experiences and everyday challenges faced by women involved in the “Solidarity” movement from the founding of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” to the fall of the communist regime in 1989. The aim of the study is to give voice to women who often remained in the shadow of male leaders, and to understand how they perceived their roles and coped with daily struggles. An attempt was made to examine the experiences of women associated with the “Solidarity” movement based on their personal recollections presented in the form of interviews. For this purpose, interviews conducted as part of the IPN’s Oral History Archive project were used, as well as those collected in Ewa Kondratowicz’s book Szminka na sztandarze (Warsaw, 2001). The analysis of these sources made it possible to identify the main motivations of women for engaging in opposition activities, to present the challenges faced during the martial law period, and to determine the feminist consciousness of the women of “Solidarity.” Additionally, efforts were made to assess how the activists’ memories have influenced today’s perception of the “Solidarity” movement.pl
Niniejsza praca podejmuje temat doświadczeń i codziennych wyzwań kobiet „Solidarności” z okresu od powstania Niezależnego Samorządnego Związku Zawodowego „Solidarność” do upadku systemu komunistycznego w 1989 roku.
