Dlaczego Trurl pozostał Trurlem, a roztraceniec stał się rozdymką? An analysis of translation techniques of authorial neologisms in the Swedish translation of Stanisław Lem's The Cyberiad

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza przekładu neologizmów autorskich zawartych w ,,Cyberiadzie" Stanisława Lema pod kątem zastosowanych przez tłumacza technik. Praca składa się z części teoretycznej, w której omówiony został obecny stan badań na temat neologizmu jako jednostki leksykalnej, podstawowe informacje z zakresu słowotwórstwa oraz techniki stosowane w procesie przekładu neologizmów zawartych w dziełach literackich z naciskiem na obszar fantastyki i fantastyki naukowej.W drugiej części pracy znajduje się analiza zebranego materiału badawczego. Sześćdziesiąt cztery przykłady zostały podzielone ze względu na techniki, których użył tłumacz w procesie przekładu. Każdy polski neologizm i jego szwedzki ekwiwalent został opisany pod kątem strukturalnym oraz semantycznym.Analiza pozwoliła na wskazanie technik dominujących, które najdokładniej oddają sens i typ jednostek wyjściowych. Wnioski te stanowią podstawę do pozytywnej oceny kompetencji tłumacza w zakresie przekładu.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the translation of Stanisław Lem's neologisms contained in "The Cyberiad" from the perspective of the techniques used by the translator. The paper consists of a theoretical part, which discusses the current state of research on the subject of neologisms as a lexical unit, basic information on word-formation and techniques used in the process of translating neologisms contained in literary works with an emphasis on the field of fantasy and science fiction.The second part of the work contains an analysis of the collected research material. Sixty-four examples have been divided according to the techniques used in the process of translation. Each Polish neologism and its Swedish equivalent have been described from a structural and semantic perspective.The analysis has made it possible to identify the dominant techniques that most accurately reflect the sense and type of the original units. These conclusions form the basis for a positive assessment of the translator's competence in the field of translation.
