Re-prezentacja Rdzennych Amerykanów w Muzeach w USA i Żydów w Polskich muzeach - Studium porównawcze

Niniejsza praca magisterska jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie w jaki sposób nowoczesne i technologicznie zaawansowane społeczeństwa pamiętają i re-prezentują mniejszości etniczne które ukształtowały ich kraje, a których obecność jest obecnie marginalna. Badania będą przeprowadzone na przykładzie Żydowskiej mniejszości etnicznej w Polsce i Indiańskiej mniejszości etnicznej w USA. Muzeum zostało wybrane jako środek reprezentacji ze względu na swoją wysoką wartość edukacyjną i jako swoista 'infrastruktura pamięci', która pomaga kształtować tożsamość społeczności którym służy. Materiały do badań pochodzą przede wszystkim z Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art w Indianapolis i Żydowskiego Muzeum Galicja w Krakowie. Grupy objęte badaniami to pracownicy muzeów, naukowcy a także przedstawiciele wymienionych grup etnicznych. Badania pomogą w odpowiedzi na pytanie jak powinna wyglądać współpraca między muzeami a społecznościami etnicznymi by odpowiednio zachować ich dziedzictwo materialne, reprezentować i uczyć o nich a także jak zbudować zrównoważony obraz przeszłości i teraźniejszości tych społeczności.

The main question this research will try to answer is how postmodern, technologically developed societies recollect and represent the past and present of ethnic communities which are almost extinct in countries that were shaped by their history and activity. Research will be conducted on the example of Jewish community in Poland and Native American community in USA. Museum was chosen as a mean of representation for its important educational value and as an ‘infrastructure of memory’ that helps shape and re-shape identity of the communities it serves. This research looks a two museums: Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis, USA and Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków, Poland. The groups included in the research are museum communities, scholars and official representation of ethnic communities united in different associations. The research will try to analyze the way museums are representing traumatic past of Jewish and Native Americans communities but also their present life. Furthermore it will reflect on current cooperation of parties responsible for these representations and will try to answer the question of how the cooperation between museums and ethnic communities should look like to properly preserve, represent and teach about the communities who strive for social inclusion and in the end how to construct museum’s space to build balanced depiction of past and present life of those groups.
