Mikhail Gorbachev's new political thinking and its influence on the foreign policy of the USSR

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest koncepcja „nowego myślenia politycznego” przedstawiona przez ostatniego Sekretarza Generalnego KC KPZR Michaiła Gorbaczowa. Przedmiotem badania jest wpływ tej idei na politykę zagraniczną Związku Socjalistycznych Republik Radzieckich (ZSRR) i upadek systemu komunistycznego w Europie. Polityka Gorbaczowa zmierzała do zakończenia zimnowojennego konfliktu i budowy nowego międzynarodowego porządku. Jednym z głównych założeń, głoszonych przez ostatniego prezydenta Związku Radzieckiego było przeświadczenie o jedności świata, a więc i współzależności. Opierając się na zasadach pokojowego współistnienia, kooperacji i samostanowienia przyzwolił na zjednoczenie Niemiec, bezkrwawe rewolucje w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej i zintensyfikował dialog rozbrojeniowy z USA.Pierwszy rozdział pracy został poświęcony karierze politycznej Michaiła Gorbaczowa i kształtowaniu się jego sylwetki, jako przyszłego przywódcy państwa.W drugim rozdziale znajduje się opis dwustronnych stosunków radziecko- amerykańskich, ze szczególnym naciskiem na dialog rozbrojeniowy między ZSRR, a Stanami Zjednoczonymi. W zamyśle Michaiła Gorbaczowa, zarówno USA, jak i ZSRR miały pokojowo współistnieć i współpracować przy rozwiązywaniu globalnych problemów.W trzeciej części pracy zostały omówione koncepcje Michaiła Gorbaczowa dotyczące losów Europy i roli, jaką powinien odegrać Związek Radziecki w procesie integracji europejskiej. Pojawiła się również kwestia zjednoczenia RFN i NRD, a także dylemat członkostwa przyszłego państwa niemieckiego w NATO.W ostatnim rozdziale został opisany kryzys systemów komunistycznych w państwach Europy Środkowo- Wschodniej, a także demontaż struktur państwowych ZSRR. „Nowe myślenie polityczne” uwolniło dążenia niepodległościowe narodów zamieszkujących ZSRR i doprowadziło do upadku państwa.

The subject of this thesis is the concept of “new political thinking", which was preached by the late Secretary General of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev. The object of the study is the impact of this idea on the foreign policy of the USSR and the collapse of the communist system in Europe. Gorbachev's policy aimed to end the Cold War and leaving the state of isolation. One of the main goals, promulgated by the last president of the Soviet Union, was the belief in the unity of the world, and the correlation. He based on the principles of peaceful coexistence, cooperation and self-determination. He consented to the reunification of Germany, bloodless revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe and he intensified dialogue disarmament of the United States.The first chapter of thesis describes Mikhail Gorbachev's political career and the formation of his figure, as the future leader of the country.Bilateral Soviet-American relations, with special emphasis on disarmament dialogue between the USSR and the United States were included in the second chapter. According to Mikhail Gorbachev, both the USA and the USSR had to co-exist peacefully and work together to solve global problems.The third part of the thesis describes Mikhail Gorbachev’s concepts regarding the future of the Europe and the role, which the Soviet Union should play in the European integration process. There is also the issue of reunification of Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic and the dilemma of the future Germany’s membership in NATO.The last section describes the crisis of the communist regimes in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the collapse of the USSR. "The new political thinking" liberated peoples’s movements for independence and led to the collapse of the state.
