The concept of taboo and its reflection in language and culture

Przedmiotem pracy magisterskiej jest szeroko rozumiane pojęcie tabu w języku i kulturze. Głównym celem pracy jest przestawienie tematów tabu obecnych w społeczeństwach na przestrzeni lat aż do dnia dzisiejszego. Szczególny nacisk położony został na wykazanie różnorodności tematów tabu w odmiennych kręgach kulturowych oraz unaocznienie istoty poznania zwyczajów obcych kultur w celu uniknięcia niezamierzonego złamania tabu. Pierwszy rozdział pracy poświęcony został zagadnieniom teoretycznym, gdzie zostały zestawione różne definicje pojęcia tabu. Omówiona została także jego etymologia, najważniejsze rodzaje i funkcje jakie spełnia. Rozdział drugi opisuje najsilniej tabuizowane czynności zarówno w obrębie jednej jak i wielu kultur. W trzecim rozdziale ukazany został problem tabu językowego, wyrażającego się przede wszystkim w eufemistycznych związkach frazeologicznych. W czwartym rozdziale przedstawiony został problem łamania tabu językowego za pomocą aktów mowy oraz różnych środków językowych.

The subject of the master's thesis is a widely understood concept of taboo in language and culture. The main aim of the dissertation is a presentation of taboos in different societies over the years until today. Particular accent has been put on demonstrating the diversity of taboos in different cultural circles. The first chapter of the thesis was devoted to theoretical issues. It was discussed the etymology of the term taboo, its main types and functions. The second chapter describes the most popular taboo-activities both a single culture and multiple cultures. The third chapter presents the issue of taboo in the language and euphemism. The fourth chapter touch on the issue of breaking the taboo in the language by using different acts of speech and language measures.

Der Gegenstand der Magisterarbeit ist der weitverstandene Tabubegriff in der Sprache und Kultur. Das Hauptziel der Diplomarbeit ist die Darstellung der Tabuthemen, die in verschiedener Gesellschaften im Laufe der Geschichte präsent sind. Der Nachdruck wurde vor allem auf die Verschiedenheit der Tabuthemen in der unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen und auf die Notwendigkeit gelegt, die fremden Kulturen kennenzulernen und damit den unabsichtlichen Tabubruch zu vermeiden. Das erste Kapitel der Arbeit wurde der Theorie gewidmet, wo verschiedene Definitionen des Tabubegriffs miteinander verglichen wurden. Es wurden auch seine Etymologie, die wichtigsten Funktionen und Arten dargestellt. Im zweiten Kapitel befasste ich mich mit der Analyse der bekanntesten Handlungstabus und Kommunikationstabus in der verschiedenen Kulturkreisen. Im dritten Kapitel wurde das Problem des Sprachtabus dargestellt, der seinen Ausdruck in den euphemistischen Phraseologismen findet. Im letzten Kapitel wurde die Frage der Tabuverletzung mithilfe von sprachlichen Mitteln besprochen.
