Oprócz strajków i zamieszek, pojawiły się również ataki medialne.Pierwsza część pracy traktuje o przedstawieniach Margaret Thatcher w wybranych dziełach sztuki wizualnej. Analizie poddano tutaj rzeźbę, szkic oraz okładki płyt winylowych bądź CD, z uwzględnieniem zmian wprowadzanych w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz osobowości i życia prywatnego pani Premier. Druga część zawiera interpretacje tekstów piosenek muzyki popularnej. Podkreśla ponadto w jak negatywnym stopniu Żelazna Dama była postrzegana przez artystów. The thesis undertakes to examine how Margaret Thatcher was depicted in several different media. The Prime Minister’s opponents felt harmed by her controversial policies, which is why they decided to rebel against her. They decided to do so not only in the form of strikes and riots but also through cultural media. The first section of the thesis deals with the representation of Margaret Thatcher in selected visual arts. This part analyzes sculpture, sketches and vinyl or CD covers in reference to the changes Thatcher implemented in Great Britain, as well as her features and private life. The second part of the work includes interpretations of popular songs and highlights these artists’ perceptions concerning the changes introduced by the Prime Minister. The songs highlight the incredibly negative feelings towards the Iron Lady and are entirely critical of her decisions. Another crucial part of the work embraces Thatcher’s film representations. Selected movies depict her persona from different perspectives. In one instance, they portray Thatcher’s private life and government issues but in the other, they avoid showing her persona and focus only on the influence of her policies (presented as a background to the plot). Even though her portrayals were extremely critical, this does not detract from her achievements and perseverance.
