Since hodonyms are viewed as a mirror of national-cultural conditions, they are occasionally replaced by those that do not violate current political correctness. Names of streets contribute to the constitution of a cultural area, because certain thought patterns are conveyed with them. The perception of the surrounding reality is determined by the language and culture of the society using this language, whose exponents also include the street names from the time of World War II in the German-created social context of the occupied territory, because all objects of (extra)linguistic reality are perceived due to the correlation of culture and reality and in this respect contribute to the new mode of perception of the surrounding world by veiled and hidden a certain interpretation of reality. For the purposes of this article, Polish hodonyms were analyzed, which were taken from German and Polish city maps during the World War II and contemporary historians‘ edits.
