Przedmiotem badań niniejszej pracy jest użycie wykładników modalności epistemicznej oraz sądów oceniających jako realizacja motywującej i\lub demotywującej taktyki komunikacyjnej​. Struktura pracy składa się z następujących części: wstępu, trzech rozdziałów teoretycznych, trzech rozdziałów analizy materiału empirycznego, zakończenia, bibliografii, suplementu z horoskopami i streszczenia w języku rosyjskim. Rozdział pierwszy traktuje o funkcjach wypowiedzi i pojęciu tekstu. Badaniem tekstu zajmuje się tzw. teoria tekstu — dyscyplina badawcza znajdująca się na pograniczu różnych dyscyplin naukowych; od lingwistyki, przez psychologię i socjologię aż do informatyki. Dlatego pomimo ogromnej liczby dostępnych prac, badania dotyczące problemu rozumienia tekstu są nadal aktualne. Rozdział drugi przedstawia horoskop jako przedmiot badań lingwistycznych. Ludzie zawsze interesowali się tym, co się stanie w przyszłości. Horoskop należy do tekstów prognostycznych. Ich cechą charakterystyczną jest to, że używają kategorii czasu w szczególny sposób — wydarzenia, o których mówią, będą miały miejsce w przyszłości. Rozdział trzeci wyjaśnia problem modalności jako wykładnika impresywnej funkcji tekstu. Najważniejszym rodzajem modalności dla niniejszej pracy jest modalność epistemiczna, która wskazuje na stopień prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia jakiegoś zdarzenia z punktu widzenia autora wypowiedzi. Jest ona realizowana na różnych poziomach języka: leksykalnym, morfologicznym, syntaktycznym i intonacyjnym. W celu zwiększenia wpływu na czytelnika autorzy horoskopów wykorzystują również kategorię oceny. W rozdziale czwartym przybliżono wstępną charakterystykę badanych tekstów. Kolejny rozdział zawiera analizę horoskopów pod kątem występowania wykładników modalności epistemicznej, a także w jaki sposób są one rozmieszczone w tekście. Ostatni rozdział empiryczny przedstawia rozkład wykładników modalności epistemicznej w połączeniu ze współwystępowaniem ocen.

The subject of this study is the use of exponents of epistemic modality and evaluative judgments as the implementation of motivating and/or demotivating communication tactics. The structure of the work consists of the following parts: introduction, three theoretical chapters, three chapters of analysis of empirical material, conclusion, bibliography, horoscope supplement and summary in Russian. The first chapter deals with the functions of speech and the notion of text. The text is studied by what is known as text theory — a research discipline on the border of various scientific disciplines; from linguistics, through psychology and sociology, to computer science. Therefore, despite the huge number of works available, research on the problem of text comprehension is still valid. The second chapter presents the horoscope as a subject of linguistic research. People have always been interested in what will happen in the future. The horoscope belongs to the prognostic texts. Their characteristic feature is that they use the categories of time in a special way - the events they talk about will take place in the future. The third chapter explains the problem of modality as an exponent of the impressive function of the text. The most important type of modality for this work is the epistemic modality, which indicates the degree of probability of an event from the point of view of the author of the statement. It is implemented at different levels of language: lexical, morphological, syntactic and intonation. In order to increase the impact on the reader, horoscope writers also use a rating category. In the fourth chapter, the initial characteristics of the texts studied are presented. The next chapter contains an analysis of horoscopes in terms of the occurrence of exponents of epistemic modality, as well as how they are arranged in the text. The last empirical chapter presents the distribution of exponents of the epistemic modality in connection with the co-occurrence of evaluations.
