border conflict
The purpose of this chapter is to analyze perspectives for solving or intensifying the China-India border conflict in the 21st century. Although the border conflict between the two most populous countries of the world has been dormant since 1962, it cannot be forgotten that this potential conflict poses a threat to the peace and stability of the whole East and South Asian region. The author explains why the dispute has not yet been solved, why it might be beneficial to anyone to maintain it, and why the disputing parties could not reach any compromise. Moreover, the author points out the correlations between China-India border issue and perspectives of those two countries’ cooperation within BRICS and the One Belt, One Road initiative.
