Political and Social Changes in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Issue of Human Rights

Praca magisterska pt „Przemiany polityczno-społeczne w Islamskiej Republice Iranu a kwestia przestrzegania praw człowieka” obejmuje analizę ewolucji polityki Iranu i jej wpływu na przestrzeganie lub nieprzestrzeganie praw człowieka w tym państwie. Nieposzanowanie praw człowieka i podstawowych wolności w Iranie jest powszechnym zjawiskiem przedstawionym w pracy za pomocą danych i badań organizacji pozarządowych.Praca składa się ze wstępu, czterech rozdziałów i zakończenia. W pierwszym rozdziale zostały zdefiniowane podstawowe zagadnienia i przeanalizowane najważniejsze dokumenty, które stoją na straży praw człowieka, nie tylko na terytorium Iranu, ale także na arenie międzynarodowej. W drugim rozdziale została poddana analizie sytuacja praw człowieka podczas rządów dynastii Pahlawi i skupiono się na konsekwencjach, które nastąpiły w tej dziedzinie po Rewolucji Islamskiej z 1979 r. Tym samym, zostały porównane wolności i ograniczenia najbardziej dyskryminacyjnych grup, mianowicie kobiet, członków mniejszości religijnych i opozycji. W trzecim rozdziale zostały przeanalizowane kadencje wybranych prezydentów, podjęte działania, obietnice wyborcze, przyjęte stanowiska i prowadzona polityka w zakresie praw człowieka. W czwartym rozdziale podjęto próbę zdefiniowania możliwości oddziaływania społeczności międzynarodowej i irańskich dysydentów na irańską politykę w dziedzinie praw człowieka. Skupiono się głównie na działalności organizacji międzynarodowych, pozarządowych i wybranych instytucji, a także czterech wybranych irańskich dysydentów, ofiar teherańskiego reżimu.

The master's thesis entitled 'Political and Social Changes in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Issue of Human Rights', analyses the evolution of Iranian politics and its impact on the respect or non-respect of human rights in the country. The lack of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in Iran is a widespread phenomenon presented in the work through the data and NGO surveys.The thesis consists of an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter defines the fundamental issues and analyses the most important documents that uphold human rights, not only on the territory of Iran, but also in the international arena. The second chapter analyses the human rights situation during the Pahlavi dynasty and focuses on the consequences that followed the 1979 Islamic Revolution in this field. Therefore, the freedoms and restrictions of the most discriminatory groups, namely women, members of religious minorities and the opposition, were compared. The third chapter analyses the mandates of the elected presidents, the measures taken, the electoral promises made, the positions adopted, and human rights policies implemented. The fourth chapter attempts to define the potential of the international community and Iranian dissidents to influence Iranian human rights policy. It focuses mainly on the activities of international organizations, NGOs and selected institutions, as well as four selected Iranian dissidents, victims of the Tehran regime.
