Model of the patient care with illness Gravesa-Basedowa based on the theory D. Orem

Choroba Gravesa – Basedowa jest chorobą autoimmunologiczną charakteryzującą się zbyt dużym wydzielaniem hormonów tarczycy. Jej rozpoznanie nie zawsze jest proste ze względu na objawy, które mogą być mylone z innymi schorzeniami. Objawy choroby, które mogą dotyczyć niemal całego ustroju mogą mieć znaczący wpływ na poziom życia pacjentów.Celem pracy była identyfikacja problemów zdrowotnych pacjenta z chorobą Gravesa – Basedowa, w oparciu o dostępne piśmiennictwo medyczne.W pracy opisano kliniczny aspekt choroby Gravesa – Basedowa. Przybliżono definicję, historię, etiologię i patogenezę oraz objawy choroby. Zaprezentowano również sposoby diagnostyki, leczenia oraz ewentualne powikłania. W niniejszej pracy opisano model opiekim pielęgniarskiej nad pacjentem z chorobą Gravesa – Basedowa na podstawie teorii Doroty Orem. Wyodrębniono 16 problemów pielęgnacyjnych i zaproponowano działania pielęgniarki. Analiza piśmiennictwa dowiodła, iż w procesie leczenia opisanego schorzenia należy uwzględnić holistyczne podejście do pacjenta. W pracy podkreślono istotne znaczenie samopielęgnacji oraz roli pielęgniarki i całego zespołu terapeutycznego w leczeniu i edukacji pacjenta

Grave’s disease is an autoimmune disease which is characterized by too high thyroid hormones’ secretion. It’s recognition is not always easy because of the symptoms, which may be misled with other disorders. The symptoms of this disease, which may concern almost the whole human body, might have a significant influence on patient’s quality of life.The aim of the thesis was to identify health problems of patients suffering from Grave’s disease, based on available medical literature.The clinical aspect of Graves’s disease was described in the thesis. There were explained a lot of issues such as: the definition, history, etiology, pathogenesis and the symptoms of the disease. The thesis presents ways of diagnostics, treatment and potential complications.The thesis describes the model of nursing care of a patient suffering from Grave’s disease based on the theory of Dorothy Orem. Sixteen nursing problems were distincted and nurses’ actions were suggested. The analysis of the literature proved that the process of the treatment should include the holistic attitude to the patient. It was stressed that self-care, the role of the nurse and the whole therapic team is of great importance when it comes to the treatment and education of the patient.
