The Carolingian illuminated manuscripts

My work concerned with the analysis of the illuminated manuscripts in Carolingian era. I tried to analize not only the illuminated part of books but also the story of production the manuscript and the place which manuscript take in the development of book production in the world at that time.On the other side I tried to analize the story of Carolingian dynasty, presents the cultural political and economy aspects of life in early medieval Europe. In the main part of this work I tried to explain the relationship between the image and the text in book art.The analyze of components of the book - ornament initials, full-paged images, suggested that every illumination was the masterpiece, which presented stylistic and iconographic problem, issues. This work showed that medieval illustrated manuscript is far more than just the visualization of the written word.

Poniższa praca stanowi analizę wybranych tematów pojawiających się w malarstwie książkowym okresu karolińskiego. Praca zawiera również krótki opis dotyczący historii książki, jej produkcji oraz roli jaką odgrywała na przestrzeni wieków, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem średniowiecza. Praca posiada także zwięzłą analizę historii państwa Karolingów obejmującą jego polityczny, ekonomiczny i kulturowy aspekt. Zakres pracy dotyczy nie tylko ilustrowanej części rękopisu ale również wzajemnej relacji pomiędzy tekstem, a obrazem. Analiza poszczególnych elementów rękopisu pokazuje, że każda iluminacja stanowi doskonałe dzieło przedstawiające konkretne zagadnienie. Praca ta pokazuje, że średniowieczny iluminowany rękopis jest zdecydowanie czymś więcej niż zobrazowaniem pisma.
