Slang studentów - porównanie mowy potocznej studentów filologii angielskiej oraz studentów innych kierunków

Celem niniejszej pracy jest charakterystyka slangu studenckiego, a także porównanie slangu studentów filologii angielskiej i slangu studentów innych kierunków. Analiza rozpoczyna się rozdziałem teoretycznym, który poświęcony jest zdefiniowaniu pojęć związanych ze slangiem oraz przedstawieniu jego najważniejszych cech. W drugim rozdziale zaprezentowana została charakterystyka studentów jako grupy społecznej a także istota slangu w ich życiu codziennym. Ponadto, poruszono problem nowych form realizacji slangu, takich jak komunikacja internetowa, wiadomości SMS-owe, czy obecność w mediach społecznościowych. Trzeci rozdział to kwestionariusz, w którym wzięły udział dwie grupy studentów: studenci filologii angielskiej oraz studenci innych kierunków. Celem kwestionariusza było zgromadzenie przykładów wyrażeń slangowych oraz zbadanie różnic pomiędzy slangiem studentów filologii angielskiej a mową potoczną pozostałych uczestników badania. Praca kończy się podsumowaniem i wnioskami. Badanie wykazało, że nie ma znaczącej rozbieżności pomiędzy slangiem studentów filologii angielskiej (władających językiem angielskim w sposób biegły) a slangiem studentów innych kierunków. Jednakże, studenci anglistyki jednoznacznie podkreślają skłonność do posługiwania się anglicyzmami w swojej mowie codziennej (szczególnie w odniesieniu do spraw uczelnianych).

The aim of this thesis is to identify the characteristics of student slang as well as to compare the slang of English philology students and the slang of students of other disciplines. The purpose of the first chapter is to situate the importance of slang in linguistics studies and to present the theoretical background of this phenomenon. The second chapter is devoted to presenting sociological aspects of slang and characterizing students as a social group. Additionally, modern trends of student slang realisations are presented in this section.In the third, empirical part, the questionnaire conducted among two groups of students is presented. The major purpose of the research is to collect the examples of contemporary student slang, to compare slang expressions used by the students of different subjects as well to investigate the characteristic features of English philology students slang. The conclusions and results are presented in the final part of the dissertation. As the study shows there is no significant difference between slang of English philology students (proficient speakers of English) and the students of other disciplines. However, English philology students do emphasize their tendency to implement anglicisms to their everyday language.
