Do badań wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z zastosowaniem autorskiego kwestionariusza ankiety. Badaniem objęto 85 studentów Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego studiujących na kierunkach medycznych i humanistycznych. Badania przeprowadzono w czerwcu 2012 roku w Krakowie.WYNIKI BADAŃ. Studenci kierunków medycznych, częściej niż studenci kierunków humanistycznych, przyjmowali suplementy diety w okresie choroby i w czasie sesji. Bez względu na rodzaj kierunku studiów większość badanych zaliczyła suplementy diety do leków.
Dietary Supplementation Among StudentsINTRODUCTION. Correctly composed diet covers the demands of a healthy adult for nutrients, vitamins and minerals. However, the upward tendency to take dietary supplements in different age groups of consumers is observed. AIM. The aim of this paper was to assess the prevalence and the frequency of dietary supplements intake among Jagiellonian University students depending on gender and field of studies.MATERIAL AND METHODS. The research was carried out using the diagnostic survey method with original author’s questionnaire. The study comprised 85 students of Jagiellonian University, studying the medical fields and the humanities. The analysis was conducted in June 2012 in Cracow.RESULTS. Currently, dietary supplements have been taken by more than half of the respondents. The most frequently chosen preparations by women were vitamins and minerals supplements, whereas men used concentrated products contained vitamins, minerals and proteins. It was found that the medical students, more often than the humanities students, have administered dietary supplements during the illness and in the end-of-term examinations. The majority of students, regardless of gender and the study field, classified dietary supplements as medications.
