Women's angelicity aspirations : about Aelred of Rievaulx's "Rule for a solitary"

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę dotyczącą dążeń do osiągnięcia anielskiego ideału przez kobietę - pustelnicę - na podstawie średniowiecznej Reguły dla pustelnicy Aelreda z Rievaulx. Reguła zasadza się na relacji pomiędzy sferą duszy i ciała oraz rzuca światło na rozpowszechniony w średniowieczu (i w czasach późniejszych) sposób postrzegania zmysłowości kobiecej. Zdaniem autora cechuje się ona pobudliwością większą od tej, której doświadczają mężczyźni, i z tego względu wymaga przedsięwzięcia surowych środków zaradczych.

The article presents the problem of the aspirations to achieve an angelic ideal by a woman - a hermit. The basis is the medieval Rule for Hermits written by Aelred of Rievaulx. The Rule show the relationship between the realm of the soul and the body. The Rule sheds light on the widespread in the Middle Ages (and in later times) way of perceiving female sensuality, which is characterized by excitability greater than that experienced by men and therefore requires undertaking of strict remedies.
