Analysis of discourse of the anti-vaccine activists and pro-vaccine activists in the social media space on the example of Facebook

Celem niniejszej pracy jest udowodnienie, że osoby udzielające się w dyskusji szczepiennej używają nieracjonalnych, nie opartych na faktach argumentów. Dodatkowo, korzystają z profili Facebooka o tematyce szczepiennej wierząc, że znajdą tam rzetelne informacje, co jak się okazuje po analizie materiału badawczego, nie ma miejsca. Internauci, którzy przeżyli śmierć bliskiej osoby spowodowaną niepożądanym odczynem poszczepiennym nie formułują obiektywnych argumentów. W części teoretycznej, przy pomocy teorii traumy wywodzącej się z psychologii wyjaśniam dlaczego tak się dzieje. Analiza badań pracy nad dyskursem szczepiennym w moim przypadku polegała na interpretacji komentarzy Facebooka na profilach o tematyce szczepiennej. W obliczu tego, że żyjemy w racjonalnym społeczeństwie i bazujemy na działaniach przyczynowo skutkowych, doszłam do wniosku, że wielu Internautów zapomina o zasadzie ogółu. Szczepionka, jak każdy lek ma skutki uboczne. Część rodziców, którym przydarzyła się choroba dziecka, związana ze szczepieniem uważa, że powinno się znieść obowiązek szczepień.

The aim of this Bachelor Thesis is to prove that the people involved in the vaccination discussion use irrational, non-factual arguments. In addition, they use Facebook the vaccination profiles believing that they will find reliable information there, which, as it turns out after the analysis of the research material, doesn't happen. Internet users who experienced the death of a family member caused by an adverse postvaccinal reaction do not formulate objective arguments. In the theoretical part, with the help of trauma theory derived from psychology, I explain why this is happening. The analysis of Bachelor Thesis on the discourse in my case consisted in the interpretation of Facebook's comments on vaccination profiles. In the face of the fact that we live in a rational society and we rely on causal actions, I came to the conclusion that many Internet users forget about the general principle. The vaccine, like every medicine has side effects. Some of the parents who have had a child with disease related to vaccination think that the vaccination obligation should be abolished.
