Borders and borderlands : countries, groups, discourses ... : anthropological and sociological perspectives

Grupa badaczy i badaczek związanych z Sekcją Antropologii Społecznej Polskiego Towarzystwa Socjologicznego podjęła się zadania ponownego przemyślenia tematyki granic i pograniczy w odniesieniu do szerokiego kontekstu współczesnej kultury. Interesowały ich zarówno granice państwowe, jak i kulturowe; te tworzone między dyscyplinami, dyskursami, ale i klasami. Podjęli tę problematykę w duchu koncepcji Fredrika Bartha, najważniejszej teorii granic kładącej nacisk na badanie aktów przypisywania i identyfikacji, a także różnych procesów, które przyczyniają się do tworzenia i trwania grup etnicznych. Autorzy tego tomu podążają tym tropem, ale również starają się wyjść poza teorię Bartha ku poszukiwaniom nowych pomysłów teoretycznych i inspiracji badawczych.

A group of scholars and researchers associated with the Section of Social Anthropology of the Polish Sociological Association has taken on the task of rethinking the subject of borders and borderlands in relation to the broad context of contemporary culture. They are interested in both national and cultural borders; as well as these formed between disciplines, discourses, and classes. They took this issue in the spirit of the concept of Fredrik Barth, who proposed the most important theory of borders, that emphasizes the study of acts of assignment and identification, as well as the various processes that contribute to the formation and duration of the ethnic groups. The authors of this volume follow this path, but also try to go beyond the Barth's theory towards the search for new theoretical ideas and research inspirations.
