Comparative analysis of American and Japanese animated feature films based on selected movies produced by studio Ghibli and Walt Disney Animation Studios.

AbstraktTematem pracy jest analiza porównawcza amerykańskich i japońskich filmów animowanych na podstawie wybranych produkcji studia Ghibli oraz Walt Disney Animation Studios. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera krótką historię wynalazków służących do animacji oraz przedstawia pierwsze krótko i pełnometrażowe japońskie i amerykańskie filmy animowane. Drugi rozdział dotyczy początków i rozwoju studia Walta Disneya i studia Ghibli oraz kierunków stylistycznych, do których oba studia dążyły w swoich produkcjach. Ostatni rozdział poświęcony jest analizie porównawczej skupiającej się na porównaniu fabuły, budowie świata oraz przedstawieniu bohaterów i otoczenia. Analiza ta ukazuje podobieństwa i różnice w podejściu studiów do przedstawienia powyższych kwestii.

AbstractThe subject of this thesis is the comparative analysis of American and Japanese animated feature films based on selected movies produced by studio Ghibli and Walt Disney Animation Studios. The first chapter contains a short history of inventions used to animate and introduces the first short and feature Japanese and American animated films. The second chapter covers the origins and development of Walt Disney's studio and studio Ghibli, and the stylistic directions both studios pursued in their productions. The last chapter is devoted to the comparative analysis that focuses on comparison of the plot, worldbuilding, depiction of characters and surroundings. The analysis shows the similarities and differences both studios had shown in approach to presenting the above terms.
