Feminist principles in philosophy of Susanne K. Langer

Praca zestawia kluczowe wątki filozofii Susanne K. Langer z pryncypiami teorii feministycznej. Wybrane motywy myśli Langer zostały przedstawione w perspektywie ich zbieżności z teorią feministyczną. Choć Langer nie zajmowała się bezpośrednio problemem płci, w niniejszej pracy filozofia amerykańskiej myślicielki została zinterpretowana jako prezentująca tak zwaną feministyczną perspektywę. Celem pracy jest wskazanie na obecne w filozofii Langer pojęcia i koncepcje postulowane w późniejszym okresie przez badaczki feministyczne. Stąd, centralne dla prezentowanych rozważań twierdzenie, że Langer antycypowała idee, rozwijane od lat 70. XX wieku na gruncie teorii feministycznej.

This essay compares the key threads in Susanne K. Langer's philosophy with the principles of feminist theory. Selected motifs in Langer's theory were presented through the prism of their convergence with the feminist thought. Although Langer did not deal directly with the issue of gender, this essay will attempt to interpret the American thinker's philosophy as a manifestation of the so-called feminist perspective. The aim of the following essay is to indicate notions and concepts present in Langer's philosophy that were later on postulated by feminist researchers. Hence central to the presented considerations claim that Langer had anticipated ideas that have been developed since the 1970s under the feminist theory.
