Vegetation motifs on ceramics of Nasca culture.

Ikonografia znana jest ze swojej różnorodności. Przedstawienia występujące na naczyniach podczas analiz mogą przekazać badaczom cenną wiedzę na temat m.in wierzeń religijnych, rytuałów, a także codziennych prac wykonywanych przez dawne społeczności czy też spożywanego przez nich pożywienia. Ogrom tych form i motywów niewątpliwie widoczny jest w kulturach prekolumbijskich Ameryki Południowej, takich jak Moche lub Nasca. Celem poniższej pracy jest przedstawienie motywów wegetacyjnych występujących na ceramice kultury Nasca, a także opisanie i dokonanie ich interpretacji. Każda z zaprezentowanych roślin uprawnych (fasola, papryka, kukurydza, lukuma, kłębian, maniok, dynia, orzechy ziemne, psianka melonowa), halucynogennych (kaktus, tytoń) oraz zaliczonych do grupy innych roślin (wodorosty i rośliny jedno- lub dwuszypułkowe) została opisana, a także wskazano różnice w przedstawianiu danych roślin na wybranych naczyniach.

Iconography is known for it's diversity. The analysis of the images being presented on different dishes might be very beneficial for the researchers. It provides precious information related to religion, rituals, daily routine as well as eating habits of the old colonies. A significant number of those motifs is manifested in the pre-Columbian cultures of South America such as Moche or Nasca. The present paper attempts at presenting the vegetative motifs which are visible on the ceramic works of the Nasca culture. The second goal is to both describe them [motifs] thoroughly and interpret respectively. The crops (bean, pepper, maize, lucuma, jiquima, manioc, squash, peanuts, pepino), the hallucinogenic plants (cacti, tobacco) and plants classified as others (seaweeds, single-stemmed kidney-shaped plants or double-stemmed heart-shaped plants) were described in terms of differences when it comes to presenting them on selected dishes.
