Praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów ukazujących w ogólnym zarysie podstawowe elementy języka japońskiego, historię państwa Japonii oraz wybrane fragmenty wiedzy na temat broni, sposobów jej wytwarzania i zdobienia. Pierwszy rozdział to zarys jakże barwnej i dramatycznej historii Japonii rozpoczynającej jej dzieje od około 13 tyś p.n.e., tj. od przybycia ludności na teren dzisiejszego Archipelagu Japońskiego do czasów współczesnych. W następnych rozdziałach zostanie zaprezentowana japońska tytulatura poszczególnych typów broni oraz historia i fazy okresów produkcji. W pracy tej zostaną również ogólnie omówione najważniejsze formy zdobnicze oraz formy oprawy szabli na przestrzeni lat. Ostatni rozdział będący podsumowaniem całej pracy podejmuje próbę umiejscowienia szabli japońskiej w kulturze tego kraju oraz metafizycznego powiązania ducha szabli z duszą jego właściciela.

The work consists of five chapters presenting an overview of the basic elements of the Japanese language, the history of the state of Japan and selected fragments of knowledge about weapons, their means of production and decoration. The first chapter outlines colorful and dramatic history of Japan, beginningfrom the thirteenth millennium BC when the discussed territory was first inhabited, and continuing up to the modern times. In the following chapters will be presented to the Japanese titulature different types of weapons and the history of the periods and phases of production. In this work will also be discussed generally the most important forms of ornamental sword fittings and forms over the years. The last chapter which is a summary of all the work attempts to locate a Japanese sword in the culture of this country and the spirit sword metaphysical relationship with the soul of its owner.
