"So many questions, so many mysteries" : "Widzenie" (The Vision) by Mickiewicz once again

Recent decades have brought a revival of research on visionary and prophetic poetry of Adam Mickiewicz, including a series of papers on Widzenie (1833-1836). These articles multiplied the number of facts and hypotheses regarding the creative process, spiritual traditions and aesthetics of this poem. However, they also left a number of questions unanswered. The interpretation of the poem put forward in this article passes from textologic issues to theological reconstruction of the course of the vision. Next, the spiritual universe of Widzenie with its theoanthroposophy is presented, the latter originating from Boehme’s concepts. After the ethical analysis of the idea of the poem, the interpretation places the piece in a group of works of theistic mystical theology, specifically in the area of Romantic religiosity. Aesthetics of the poem combines the „memory of ecstasy” and a revocative dream.
