The number of studies on the flâneur multiplied in the last decennia, and the theories flourished. Placed in other contexts than that of the Nineteenth-Century Paris and used as a "mirror" of contemporary interests, disputes, and fears, the flâneur is functioning now as a passe-partout term. However, how reliable is the construction of such a scientific "myth"? Which are the effects of the transfer of concepts from social theories into literary studies? The purpose of this paper is to discuss the Baudelaire / Benjamin "model" and their clichés, by rereading some theoretical and canonical texts (Nineteenth-Century "physiologies", fragments, and essays of Walter Benjamin).

Liczba prac na temat flâneura znacząco się zwiększyła w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach, i rozmnożyły się różne teorie. Flâneur został umiejscowiony w innych kontekstach niż dziewiętnastowieczny Paryż i użyty jako "zwierciadło" współczesnych interesów, sporów i obaw, dlatego funkcjonuje teraz jako termin-wytrych. Jednakże jak bardzo można polegać na konstruowaniu takiego naukowego "mitu"? Jakie są skutki przeniesienia pojęć z teorii społecznych do literaturoznawstwa? Celem niniejszego artykułu jest omówienie "modelu" Baudelaire’a / Benjamina i ich stereotypów, odczytując na nowo pewne teoretyczne i kanoniczne teksty (dziewiętnastowieczne "fizjologie", fragmenty oraz eseje Waltera Benjamina).
