What can be read from a theatrical poster? This article discusses the issue of using theatrical posters in teaching Polish at the fourth level of education (high school) based on the example of two posters (created by Nowosielski and Pągowski) that are related to stage adaptations of Antigone and Wesele [The Wedding] as well as on the example of critics’ opinions about these performances. The author of this article treats posters as autonomous statements, which at the same time refer us both to a given drama and to a specific theatrical realization. This allows one to design various in-class situations, which makes it possible to break the existing patterns related to using dramas or performances in teaching.
