Body as a meeting place of love and death in Halina Poświatowska's works

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej była próba ujęcia – poprzez analizę i interpretację – twórczości Haliny Poświatowskiej w kreowaniu obrazu ciała jako miejsca miłości, cierpienia i śmierci. A także rozpatrywaniem go jako wytworu biologicznego oraz siedliska duszy. Była to także próba odpowiedzenia na pytanie jak zmieniała się perspektywa poetki w patrzeniu na ciało w dwóch kluczowych momentach w jej życiu: przed operacją oraz tuż po niej. Pierwszy rozdział jest dość rozbudowanym obrazem biograficznym Poświatowskiej. Życie poetki zostało opisane w nim za pomocą jej wierszy. Rozdział drugi, trzeci oraz czwarty – to analiza i interpretacja wybranych utworów (Lustro, Manekiny oraz Tańcząca Nina), w których występuje motyw ciała. Stanowi on także teoretyczną podstawę do rozważań nad tymi kwestiami. Mowa jest również o samych pojęciach ciała, miłości i śmierci. Rozdział piąty jest podsumowaniem poprzednich części. Raz jeszcze odniosłam się w nim do twórczości poetki oraz przedstawiłam wnioski wynikające z omówionych utworów.

This thesis, through analysis and interpretation, is an attempt to explain and understand the picture of human body as a place of love, suffering and death in the works of Halina Poświatowska. Also, the body as a creation of a biological nature and home for the soul. The thesis is also meant as an attempt to answer the question - how authors perspective of human body was changing in two key moments of her life: before and after she underwent the operation.The first chapter of this thesis is a complex biographical picture of Poświatowska. The poets life has been described using her own poems. The second, third and the fourth chapters are the analysis and the interpretation of selected pieces (Lustro, Manekiny and Tańcząca Nina - Mirror, Mannequins, Dancing Nina) that take up motif of the body. It is also the theoretical foundation for contemplating the main problem of this thesis. Topics like human body, love and death are also being briefly discussed. The fifth and the final chapter is a summary of the whole thesis. Once again, the poet`s writings are mentioned as well as conclusions derived from discussed pieces.
