Selected aspects of the functioning of public libraries in the social space on the example of the Commue Public Llibrary in Koniusza

Autorka niniejszej pracy magisterskiej poruszyła zagadnienie funkcjonowania bibliotek publicznych w przestrzeni społecznej. Szczególna uwaga została poświęcona gminnym bibliotekom publicznym, a temat przedstawiono na przykładzie Gminnej Biblioteki Publicznej w Koniuszy. Celem pracy była analiza oraz opis wybranych aspektów działalności i funkcjonowania bibliotek publicznych w przestrzeni społecznej oraz ich znaczenia dla lokalnej społeczności, a także określenie roli bibliotek publicznych w lokalnej przestrzeni społecznej. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły na stwierdzenie, iż biblioteki publiczne pełnią istotną rolę w przestrzeni społecznej, w której funkcjonują. Również podejmowana przez nie działalność ma szczególne znaczenie i wpływ na odbiorców bibliotek stanowiących lokalną społeczność. Na przykładzie badanej Gminnej Biblioteki Publicznej w Koniuszy można stwierdzić, iż przejawia się to przede wszystkim w sposobie postrzegania biblioteki przez jej odbiorców, jako miejsca w którym mogą spędzić swój czas wolny oraz umożliwia im integrację wewnętrzną z innymi uczestnikami środowiska regionalnego. Wpływ na to mają również relacje z pracownikami danej biblioteki. W Gminnej Bibliotece Publicznej w Koniuszy kładą oni nacisk na bezpośredni kontakt i indywidualne podejście do każdego czytelnika. Materiał źródłowy wykorzystany w badaniach na potrzeby niniejszej pracy magisterskiej stanowiły materiały dotyczące działalności badanej biblioteki. Zagadnienia teoretyczne zostały omówione w oparciu o publikacje z zakresu bibliotekoznawstwa i dziedzin pomocniczych.

The author of this thesis raised the issue of the functioning of public libraries in the social space. Particular attention was paid to communal public libraries, and the topic was presented on the example of the Commune Public Library in Koniusza. The aim of the study was to analyze and describe selected aspects of the activity and functioning of public libraries in the social space and their importance for the local community, as well as to define the role of public libraries in the local social space. The conducted research allowed to state that public libraries play an important role in the social space in which they function. The activity they undertake is also of particular importance and has a special impact on the recipients of libraries constituting the local community. On the example of the studied Commune Public Library in Koniusza, it can be stated that it is manifested primarily in the way the library is perceived by its recipients as a place where they can spend their free time and enables them to integrate internally with other participants of the regional environment. It is also influenced by relations with employees of a given library. In the Commune Public Library in Koniusza, they put emphasis on direct contact and an individual approach to each reader. The source material used in the research for the purposes of this thesis were materials concerning the activities of the studied library. Theoretical issues were discussed on the basis of publications in the field of library science and auxiliary fields.
