The characteristics of Jerzy Matuszkiewicz's music in the TV series for children "Stawiam na Tolka Banana" [I bet on Tolek Banan]: conventions and stereotypes

Charakterystyka muzyki Jerzego Matuszkiewicza w serialu dla dzieci "Stawiam na Tolka Banana" została przeprowadzona pod kątem ujawnienia pojawiających się w niej konwencji i stereotypów związanych z przeznaczeniem serialu dla dzieci oraz z wprowadzeniem do niego postaci Cygana muzyka. Analiz dokonano z perspektywy odcinka, z perspektywy sceny, oraz z perspektywy całego serialu. W wyniku analiz ustalono, że warstwa muzyczna serialu – choć stereotypowa i bazująca na konwencjach – adresowana była nie tylko dla dzieci, ale i młodzieży, jak również dorosłych odbiorców.

The characteristics of Jerzy Matuszkiewicz's music in the children's serial Stawiam na Tolka Banana [I bet on Tolek Banan] was carried with the aim of revealing its reliance on stereotypes and conventions connected with the targeted audience , i.e. children, and the introduction of the figure of Romany (Gypsy) musician into the plot of the show. The presented analysis include various perspectives: of episodes, of particular scenes and the whole series. The research has shown that musical layer of the serial, although conventional and based on stereotypes – was addressed not only to children, but also to youngster, as well as adults.
