The idea of freedom in Polish rock music of the 80s

Lata 80. to ważny moment dla polskiej muzyki rockowej. Powstało wówczas wiele zespołów, między innymi Perfect, Dżem oraz Republika, których historię i twórczość przedstawiłam w mojej pracy. Zaistniały festiwale muzyki rockowej. Historii najważniejszego - Jarocina - poświęciłam jeden podrozdział. Ówczesna sytuacja społeczno-polityczna była inspiracją do tworzenia protest songów. Analizy "Autobiografii" Perfectu, "Snu o Vicorii" Dżemu i "Białej flagi" Republiki, czyli czołowych polskich protest songów lat 80., stanowią główny element mojej pracy. Analizie poddałam warstwę muzyczną oraz słowną. Celem mojej pracy jest przybliżenie ówczesnej polskiej muzyki rockowej oraz tematyki wolności poruszanej w protest songach.

The 80’s is important time for Polish rock music. It was a time of when a lot of bands were created, Perfect, Dżem and Republika to name a few. Their history and creations is described in my work. Rock music festivals came to life. I devoted one subsection to the history of the most important one – Jarocin. The social and political situation in those days were inspiration for creating protest song. The main part of my work is the analysis of the “Autobiografia” by Perfect, “Sen o Victorii” by Dżem and “Biała flaga” by Republika. Those are the leading Polish protest songs of the 80s. I analysed music and lyrics. The purpose of my work is to present the polish rock music of the 80s and the idea of freedom in protest songs.
