Abstract in English

This article is devoted to a preliminary characterization of the erotic and physiological lexis recorded in The Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language edited by B. Hrinchenko. The material collected is primarily classified and analyzed in terms of the semantics. The use of lexicographical labels is examined from the point of view of their relevance to research on taboo language. As a conclusion, an attempt is made at outlining the possibilities and directions for investigating the part of lexis in question in connection with the phenomenon of taboo language. Note is taken of the difficulties characteristic of such research.
