Wacław Niżyński to jeden z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych tancerzy na świecie. W środowisku tanecznym zasłynął jako najwybitniejszy rosyjski tancerz XX wieku, ale także jako wielki reformator tańca klasycznego. Postać Niżyńskiego do dnia dzisiejszego jest inspirująca dla wielu osób. Nie tylko z powodu jego sukcesów i talentu, ale również za sprawą swego bardzo ciekawego, lecz wyjątkowo tragicznego życia. Historia jego relacji z Diagilewem oraz zaskakującego małżeństwa z Romolą stała się tematem przewodnim m.in filmu Herberta Rossa pt. Niżyński. W niniejszej pracy konfrontuje ze sobą postać Wacława Niżyńskiego- z jej wizją filmową. W pracy wyeksponowane zostały zarówno zbieżności jak i różnice w kreacjach postaci- literackich i filmowej. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy przybliża postać Niżyńskiego. Drugi jest poświęcony głównie Diagilewowi i jego relacji z Wacławem. Trzeci koncentruje się na Romoli i konsekwencjach wynikających z jej małżeństwa z Niżyńskim.

Vaclav Niżyński is one of the most recognizable dancers in the world. In the dance community he became famous as the most outstanding Russian dancer of the 20th century, as well as the reformer of classical dance. His personage is inspiring to many people up to this day. It is not only because of his incredible talent and success, but also in observance of his very interesting, yet exceptionally tragic life. The story of his relations with Diaghilev as well as his unexpected marriage to Romola became the main subject of, among others, the movie Nijinsky by Herbert Ross. In this work I confront the personage of Vaclav Nijinsky with his film vision. I draw attention to both the similarities as well as differences between the literary and film characters. The work consists of three chapters. The first introduces Nijinsky. The second is mostly about Diaghilev and his relationship to Vaslav. The third chapter concentrates on Romola and the consequences of her marriage to Nijinsky.
