The functioning of student councils in the opinion of students and teachers both

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest funkcjonowanie samorządu uczniowskiego w opinii uczniów i nauczycieli. Praca podzielona została na trzy rozdziały. W rozdziale pierwszym przedstawiono problematykę badań w świetle teorii. Omówiono w nim zarys historyczny samorządów uczniowskich, ich rozwój na ziemiach polskich oraz wpływy zagraniczne na ruch samorządów w Polsce. W rozdziale tym omówiono również podstawowe pojęcia, takie jak samorządność i samorząd uczniowski, a także przedstawiono podstawy prawne funkcjonowania samorządów uczniowskich w Polsce. W rozdziale drugim poświęcono całość uwagi zagadnieniom metodologicznym. Opisano w nim przede wszystkim przedmiot i cel badań, wykorzystane metody badań i techniki badawcze, zmienne i wskaźniki, problematykę badań oraz teren badań i grupę badawczą. Celem niniejszej pracy jest poznanie opinii uczniów i nauczycieli na temat funkcjonowania samorządu uczniowskiego w szkole gimnazjalnej. Aby osiągnąć zamierzony cel, sformułowano następujący problem główny: jak funkcjonuje samorząd uczniowski w opinii uczniów i nauczycieli? Do uzyskania odpowiedzi na postawione pytanie badawcze posłużono się metodą sondażu diagnostycznego oraz analizą dokumentów. W toku badań wykorzystano następujące techniki: badanie ankietowe oraz analizę treściową dokumentu. W rozdziale trzecim opisano analizę otrzymanych wyników badań oraz nasuwające się wnioski. W opinii uczniów i nauczycieli samorząd uczniowski działa sprawnie, współpracując w szczególności z opiekunem samorządu. Uczniom podobają się działania podejmowane przez przedstawicieli samorządu uczniowskiego, zwłaszcza te związane z rozrywką. Pomimo tego mają kilka uwag i propozycji, które mogłyby usprawnić działania samorządu uczniowskiego w ich szkole.

The subject of this thesis is the functioning of student councils in the opinion of students and teachers both. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first section presents the research topic in light of the current theories and literature. It sketches the historical overview of student self-governments (student councils), their development in Poland and foreign influences on the student council movement in Poland. This chapter also discusses basic concepts such as self-government, student council, and presents the legal basis for formation of student councils in Polish schools. The second chapter is devoted entirely to methodological issues. It describes primarily the subject-matter and purpose of the study, the research methods and research techniques applied, variables and indicators, the research topic and area and finally the target group for the survey. The objective of this thesis is to learn the opinion of students and teachers on the functioning of the student council in one junior high school (gimnazjum). To attain this objective, the following main question was formulated by the author: How well does the student council operate in the opinion of students and teachers? To get an answer to thus posed research question, the method of diagnostic survey and subsequent analysis of documentation obtained was used. The following techniques were applied as part of the study: survey and content analysis of documentation. The third chapter of the thesis presents the analysis of the survey results and the conclusions emerging from the material collected. In the opinion of students and teachers, the student council works well, cooperating in particular with the student council supervisor at the school. Students like the activities undertaken by the students' representatives, especially those related to entertainment. Nonetheless, they have a few reservations and suggestions that could improve the student council functioning at their school.
