Niniejsza praca licencjacka podejmuje temat strachu w baśniach ludowych braci Jacoba i Wilhelma Grimm. Różne opowieści rozpatrywane są pod kątem występującego w nich strachu, który objawia się zarówno w reakcjach bohaterów na określone sytuacje, postaci czy przedmioty, jak i wpływ czynników wywołujących strach na ich dalsze postępowanie. Kolejnym przedmiotem badań jest atmosfera strachu kreowana w poszczególnych baśniach.Część teoretyczna pracy wyjaśnia znaczenie baśni jako gatunku literackiego oraz informuje o znaczeniu baśni w epoce romantyzmu. Przedstawia także cechy baśni ludowej oraz historię powstania zbioru baśni braci Grimm. W kolejnym rozdziale omówiona zostaje problematyka strachu w literaturze romantycznej oraz wyjaśnione zostaje pojęcie strachu.W części analitycznej pracy badane zostają konkretne czynniki (tj. różne zjawiska i sytuacje), które powodują strach u bohaterów lub tworzą atmosferę strachu w baśniach ludowych: przemoc wobec dzieci, śmierć i duchy, spożycie ludzkiego ciała, okaleczenia i obrażenia, przemiany ludzi w zwierzęta i budzące strach wydarzenia w lesie. Kolejnym czynnikiem analizowanym w tej pracy, będącym przyczyną pojawiania się strachu w baśniach ludowych braci Grimm, jest obecność zwierząt: wilka i sowy.Pracę kończy ogólne podsumowanie wszystkich wspomnianych wcześniej wniosków. Zaprezentowane zostają także różnorodne funkcje i cele strachu w baśniach ludowych braci Grimm. Praca zachęca do dalszych badań w tym obszarze, które mogą opierać się na analizie refleksji i reakcji czytelników baśni na występujący w nich motyw strachu.

This bachelor’s thesis explores the theme of fear in the “Children’s and Household Tales” of the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Various folk tales are examined in terms of the fear present in them, which is revealed both in the protagonists' reactions to specific situations, characters or objects, as well as the influence of fear-provoking factors on their further actions. Another subject of research is an atmosphere of fear created in the tales.The theoretical part of the thesis explains the meaning of the tale as a literary genre and informs about the importance of tales in the era of romanticism. The features of the folk tale and history of creation of the “Children’s and Household Tales” of the brothers Grimm are also presented. The next chapter discusses the issue of fear in Romantic literature and explains the concept of fear itself.The analytical part of the thesis examines specific factors (i.e. different phenomena and situations) which cause fear in the characters or create an atmosphere of fear in the folk tales: violence against children, death and ghosts, consumption of the human body, injuries and mutilations, transformations of people into animals and fear-inducing events in the forest. Another factor analysed in this work, which is the reason for fear occurrence in Grimm’s folk tales, is the presence of certain animals: a wolf and an owl.The thesis ends with a general summary of all of the foregoing conclusions. It also contains a presentation of diverse functions and purposes of fear in the “Children’s and Household Tales” of the brothers Grimm. The work encourages further research in this area, which may be based on examining the reflections and reactions of the readers on the tales containing the motive of fear.

Diese Bachelorarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema Angst in den „Kinder- und Hausmärchen“ der Brüder Jacob und Wilhelm Grimm. Verschiedene Volksmärchen werden auf die in ihnen vorhandene Angst untersucht, die sich sowohl in den Reaktionen der Protagonisten auf bestimmte Situationen, Figuren oder Gegenstände zeigt, als auch im Einfluss angstauslösender Faktoren auf ihr weiteres Handeln. Ein weiterer Forschungsgegenstand ist die in den Märchen erzeugte Atmosphäre der Angst.Der theoretische Teil der Arbeit erläutert die Bedeutung des Märchens als literarische Gattung und informiert über die Bedeutung des Märchens im der Romantik. Darüber hinaus werden die Merkmale des Volksmärchens und die Entstehungsgeschichte der „Kinder- und Hausmärchen“ der Gebrüder Grimm dargestellt. Das nächste Kapitel befasst sich mit dem Thema Angst in der romantischen Literatur und erklärt das Konzept der Angst selbst.Der analytische Teil der Arbeit untersucht spezifische Faktoren (d.h. unterschiedliche Phänomene und Situationen), die bei den Figuren Angst hervorrufen oder in Volksmärchen eine Atmosphäre der Angst erzeugen: Gewalt gegen Kinder, Tod und Geister, Verzehr des menschlichen Körpers, Verletzungen und Verstümmelungen, Verwandlungen von Menschen in Tiere und angsteinflößende Ereignisse im Wald. Ein weiterer in dieser Arbeit analysierter Faktor, der die Ursache für das Auftreten von Angst in Grimms Volksmärchen ist, ist die Anwesenheit bestimmter Tiere: eines Wolfes und einer Eule.Die Arbeit endet mit einer allgemeinen Zusammenfassung aller vorstehenden Schlussfolgerungen. Sie enthält auch eine Darstellung verschiedener Funktionen und Zwecke der Angst in den „Kinder- und Hausmärchen“ der Brüder Grimm. Die Arbeit regt zu weiterer Forschung in diesem Bereich an, die auf der Untersuchung der Reflexionen und Reaktionen der Leser auf Volksmärchen mit dem Motiv der Angst basieren könnte.
