The image of life in Havana since the victory of Cuban revolution until present presented in Cuban literature

The aim of this thesis is to present the image of life in Havana shown in Cuban literature since the victory of the Revolution led by Fidel Castro until present.This thesis divides the history of Cuba after 1959 into three key periods: years after the revolutionists entered Havana, years after the fall of the Soviet Union and present times, after year 2000. This division was introduced in order to show if those events had any influence on the quality of life of the inhabitants of Havana or its image in literature. The analysis included such books as: Mea Kuba by Guillermo Cabrera Infante, Before the Night Falls by Reinaldo Arenas, Dirty Havana Trilogy by Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, The Seven National Sins by Yoss, Tell Me Something About Cuba by Jesús Díaz and Cuba Libre by Yoani Sánchez.The analysis proved that, even though the books come from different periods, the presented image of life in Havana seems coherent and the key factor that influences it is the political situation.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie obrazu życia mieszkańców Hawany w literaturze kubańskiej, opisującej lata od zwycięstwa Rewolucji. pod przywództwem Fidela Castro, aż po czasy współczesne. W pracy dokonany został podział historii Kuby po 1959 roku na trzy kluczowe okresy: lata po zwycięskim wkroczeniu rewolucjonistów do Hawany, okres po upadku Związku Radzieckiego oraz lata najnowsze, po roku 2000. Celem takiego podziału było zanalizowanie czy i w jaki sposób te wydarzenia wpływały na jakość życia mieszkańców kubańskiej stolicy oraz jego obraz, kształtowany w literaturze. Przedmiotem analizy były następujące pozycje: Mea Kuba Guillermo Cabrery Infante, Zanim zapadnie noc Reinaldo Arenasa, Brudna trylogia o Hawanie Pedro Juana Gutiérreza, Siedem grzechów kubańskich Yossa, Opowiedz mi o Kubie Jesúsa Díaza oraz Cuba libre notatki z Hawany Yoani Sánchez. Analiza treści wymienionych pozycji wskazała, że niezależnie od okresu historycznego jaki opisywała dana książka, obraz Hawany wydaje się spójny i jednorodny, a kluczowym czynnikiem wpływającym na jego kształt jest czynnik polityczny.
