Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is classified as a chronic disease of the connective tissue. One of the main objectives for treating this disease is to maintain or improve the patient’s quality of life. Medical personnel should adopt a holistic approach to patient care, including concerns such as physical, mental, social and spiritual (religiosity, beliefs) states. Researchers believe that religiosity has a significant impact on the quality of life experienced by patients suffering from chronic diseases. The aim of the study: The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between the patient’s religiosity and their quality of life while suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and analysis of the dependencies between them.Materials and methods: The study included 100 patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The study used the estimation method, the diagnostic survey method, the questionnaire technique and the scaling method. The author’s questionnaire and the SF-36v2 quality of life questionnaire, Individual Religiosity Scale (S.I.R.) by A. Latała and P. Socha were used as a research tools. Statistical tests: Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskala-Wallis, U Mann-Whitney, Dunna and Speraman’s rank correlation coefficient were used to analyze the results. The level of significance was set at p ≤ 0,05.Results: Taking into account the results obtained with the use of the SF-36v2 quality of life questionnaire, the patients' quality of life was found to be average of -74,78 (SD = 30.4). Based on the results of the Individual Religiosity Scale (S.I.R.), the respondents obtained an average of 73.9 (SD = 31.26) points, which proves the average degree of religiosity. Most of the subjects declared themselves as Catholic, moderately involved in religious life. No significant positive correlations was observed between patient's religiosity and their quality of life while suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (p=0,7514). Religiousness was significantly higher in group of people with vocational education and pensioners from villages and towns up to 100,000 population, the quality of life was significantly higher in those who did not experience joint pain or experience mild pain level, and those who did not need any help with their daily activities. Conclusions: The impact of religiosity on the quality of life of RA patients should be further explored, e.g. in different cultural, religious and ethnic contexts, and discover new threads useful for its improvement.pl

Wliczamy do niej aspekty fizyczne, psychiczne, społeczne i duchowo-religijne. W oparciu o wyniki Skali Indywidualnej Religijności (S.I.R.) ankietowani uzyskali średnio 73,9 (SD=31,26) punktów, co świadczy o średnim stopniu religijności.
