Powstały szeregi modeli, a modyfikacje w konstrukcji instrumentu dały inspirację do stworzenia nowych sposobów gry. Muzycy przejęli dorobek metod gry na gitarze klasycznej, wzbogacając go o nowe środki wykonawcze. Gitara elektryczna funkcjonuje obecnie w wielu gatunkach muzyki popularnej. W związku z dużymi możliwościami wypowiedzi artystycznej gitarzyści dążą do wytworzenia swoich charakterystycznych stylów gry. Na nie składają się głównie stosowanie konkretnych środków wykonawczych i ustawienia sprzętowe. Techniki gry na gitarze to pewnego rodzaju ozdobniki, które pozwalają nadać poszczególnym dźwiękom odpowiedni wyraz. Utwory ,,Echoes" i ,,Tender Surrender" stanowią w stosunku do siebie pewien kontrast, dzięki któremu dają możliwość przeglądu dużej ilości środków wykonawczych. Niniejsza praca prezentuje historię instrumentu oraz metody gry na gitarze elektrycznej włącznie z przykładami ich zastosowania.

Probably the world's first commercially produced electric guitars were launched in 1932 About ninety years have passed since then and series of models were created. Modifications to the structure of the instrument inspired musicians to the creation new ways of playing. The musicians took over the achievements of classical guitar playing methods, enriching it with new techniques. The electric guitar is now used in many genres of popular music. Due to the great possibilities of artistic expression, guitarists strive to create their own characteristic styles of playing. They mainly consist on the use of specific implementing measures and hardware settings. The guitar playing techniques are some kind of ornaments that allow to make individual sounds the appropriate expression. The pieces "Echoes" and "Tender Surrender" are a certain contrast to each other, thanks to which they give the opportunity to review a large number of playing techniques. This work presents the instrument’s history and methods of playing on an electric guitar, including examples of their use.
