Female corporeality and sexuality in Agnieszka Błońska's Devils

W niniejszej pracy podejmuję temat relacji władzy, Kościoła i kobiet w Polsce, które w ciągu ostatnich lat są szczególnie obecne w debatach przestrzeni publicznej i nie pozostają bez wpływu na sferę prywatną oraz na świadomość społeczną. Zapleczem teoretycznym i metodologicznym jest kategoria instytucji totalnej Ervinga Goffmana, koncepcja wiedzy/ władzy Michaela Foucaulta oraz socjologiczne badania obrazu kobiety w Kościele. Wymienione narzędzia pozwolą uchwycić system władzy w ramy oraz ukazać formy praktyk wpływających na formowanie się jednostki oraz ambiwalentne podejście do kobiecego ciała i cielesności.Dziś, jak i od wielu dekad, organizacja polskiego Kościoła Katolickiego posiada ogromny wpływ polityczny, historyczny oraz społeczny na kształtowanie świadomości społecznej oraz opinii publicznej w Polsce. Sama instytucja wciąż stanowi nieodzowny element polskiej rzeczywistości, co przekłada się na jej funkcjonowanie, sprawczość i widzialność. Rola, jaką pełni w kreowaniu rzeczywistości, wykracza poza ramy własnej organizacji. Widzimy to przede wszystkim w sytuacjach, gdy jej członkowie lub/i wyznaczeni przedstawiciele uczestniczą w debatach publicznych, publicystycznych, medialnych, wpływając na kształt polityki państwa, a więc nie tylko życia wiernych, ale wszystkich obywateli i obywatelek. Głównym celem jest więc ukazanie Kościoła jako instytucji totalnej, która wytwarza konkretny obraz kobiet oraz stosunek do ich ciała, a także przedstawienie sposobu, w jaki można subwersywnie sproblematyzować relację struktur władzy kościoła oraz kobiecości przez medium współczesnego teatru.Przedmiotem badań jest struktura władzy Kościoła, spektakl oraz inne teksty kultury. Moja praca ma ukazań złożone stosunki władzy oraz binarne podejście Kościoła w odniesieniu do cielesności oraz seksualności kobiet, gdzie macierzyństwo jest jedynym słusznym środkiem, celem oraz funkcją kobiet a wszystko to, co poza wyznaczoną normę i nie mieści się w tym wyobrażeniu musi zostać zdemonizowane, skarcone lub/i ukryte.

In this work, I take up the topic of the relationship of power, the Church and women in Poland, which in recent years has been particularly present in debates in public space and has an impact on the private sphere and social awareness. The theoretical and methodological background is the category of Erving Goffman's total institution, Michael Foucault's concept of knowledge / power, and sociological studies of the image of women in the Church. The aforementioned tools will make it possible to grasp the system of power in frames and show the forms of practices influencing the formation of the individual and the ambivalent approach to the female body and corporeality.Today, and for many decades, the organization of the Polish Catholic Church has a huge political, historical and social impact on shaping social awareness and public opinion in Poland. The institution itself is still an indispensable element of Polish reality, which translates into its functioning, agency and visibility. The role it plays in creating reality goes beyond its own organization. We can see it first of all in situations where its members and / or designated representatives participate in public, journalistic and media debates, influencing the shape of the state's policy, and thus not only the lives of the faithful, but also all citizens and female citizens.The main goal, then, is to present the Church as a total institution that produces a concrete image of women and their attitude to their bodies, and to present a way in which the relationship between church power structures and femininity can be subversively problematized through the medium of contemporary theater.The subject of research is the structure of the Church's power, spectacle and other cultural texts. My work shows the complex relations of power and the binary approach of the Church to the corporeality and sexuality of women, where motherhood is the only right means, goal and function of women, and everything that is beyond the prescribed norm and does not fit into this image must be demonized, rebuked. and / or hidden.
