Analiza metafor o tematyce miłosnej w językach hiszpańskim i angielskim na przykładach zgromadzonych z forów internetowych

An analysis of love metaphors in Spanish and English based on examples from Internet forums.

Celem niniejszej pracy dyplomowej jest analiza metafor konceptualnych w językach hiszpańskim i angielskim na podstawie przykladów zgromadzonych z forów internetowych o tematyce miłosnej. Jej zadaniem jest ukazanie różnic lub podobieństw, które mogą wystąpić w obu językach oraz badanie rodzajów konceptualizacji miłości i problemów z nią związanych w obu językach. Rozdział 1 dotyczy teorii metafory i metonimii w językoznawstwie kognitywnym, ich klasyfikacji według Lakoffa i Johnsona oraz innych zagadnień z nimi związanych, takich jak przestrzenie mentalne i schematy wyobrażeniowe.Drugi rozdział jest analizą przykładów metafor i metonimii, które zostały zebrane z hiszpańskich i angielskich forów o tematyce miłosnej pomiędzy październikiem 2011 i sierpniem 2012. Bardzo duża ilość takich metafor została znaleziona i podzielona w trzy grupy: metafory orientacyjne, ontologiczne i strukturalne. Wiele przykładów metafor zostało znalezionych we wszystkich trzech grupach w obu językach. Ponadto, analiza wykazała, że metafory o tematyce miłosnej są bardzo podobne, a często nawet takie same zarówno w języku hiszpańskim, jak i angielskim. Wyniki tych badań sugerują, iż konceptualizacja wielu zagadnień związanych z tą tematyką jest bardzo podobna i reprezentuje wspólną strukturę konceptów użytkowników obu języków. Mało przykładów metonimii zostało znalezionych na bazie materiału zgromadzonego dla tej pracy, co może znaczyć, iż nie jest to zjawisko tak często występujące jak metafora w języku o tematyce miłosnej i innych zagadnień z nią związanych.

The subject of this thesis is an analysis of the examples of conceptual metaphors in both the Spanish and English language, which were found on Internet love forums. The aim of this study was to establish whether there are any differences or similarities between them, as well as to find ways in which various phenomena are conceptualized in both languages.Chapter 1 presents a general overview of the theories regarding metaphor and metonymy in cognitive linguistics, their classification according to Lakoff y Johnson and other concepts related to them, such as mental spaces and image-schemas. The aim of the second chapter is to analyse the examples of such metaphors and metonymies, which were collected from Spanish and English Internet love forums between October 2011 and August 2012. A great number of metaphors have been presented and divided in three groups, i.e. orientational, ontological and structural metaphors.Considerable amounts of all three groups of conceptual metaphors have been found in both languages. The research has shown that love metaphors are very similar or even the same in many cases in Spanish and English. The result of the analysis implies that the conceptualization of various phenomena is much the same in both languages and that it represents a common structure of concepts for the speakers of both languages. On the basis of the material gathered for the purpose of this dissertation, few examples of metonymies have been found, which may imply that it is not as common a tool as metaphor is in the subject of love and affairs connected with them.

La presente tesis se centra en un análisis de las metáforas conceptuales en castellano e inglés acerca del tema del amor, encontradas en los foros de Internet. El objetivo ha sido estudiar los ejemplos en las dos lenguas con el fin de establecer las diferencias o similitudes que puede haber entre ellas y analizar el grado de la conceptualización de los fenómenos en ambas lenguas. En el capítulo 1 se presenta la metáfora y la metonimia desde la perspectiva de la lingüística cognitiva, sus tipos propuestos por Lakoff y Johnson y los conceptos relacionados con ellas, tales como los espacios mentales y los esquemas de imágenes.La segunda parte es un análisis de los ejemplos de estas metáforas encontrados en los foros de amor entre Octubre 2011 y Agosto 2012 en castellano e inglés. Se ha presentado una gran cantidad de metáforas divididas en tres grupos: las metáforas orientacionales, ontológicas y estructurales, y unos ejemplos de la metonimia. Se ha encontrado una gran cantidad de metáforas ontológicas, estructurales y orientacionales en las dos lenguas. El estudio ha presentado que las metáforas conceptuales de amor en los dos idiomas son muy parecidas o incluso iguales. El resultado implica que la conceptualización de los fenómenos en ambas lenguas no es diferente y representa una estructura común de los conceptos para los hablantes de castellano e inglés. A base de los datos encontrados en los foros de amor, no se han encontrado muchos ejemplos de metonimias, lo que puede significar que este fenómeno no es abundante en la temática del amor y las relaciones románticas.
