„The Spirit Searching Even the Deep Things of God”. On Recognizing the Holy Spirit by Indian Catholics. The name of the Holy Spirit in the Hindi translation of Saint Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians.

The aim of this thesis is to define how the translation of the Holy Spirit’s name into "Pavitr Atma", that is used in Hindi and refers to the philosophy of advaita vedanta, influences the recognizing of the Holy Spirit based on Hindi version of the Bible by Indian Catholics. The master thesis contains: outline of the history of Christianity in India (chapter I), description of the Charismatic Renewal Movement and its emergence on Indian land (chapter II), overview of Indian Christian Theology (chapter III), characterization of the Bible and its role in the life of the Catholic, problems in translating Bible with reference to Indian culture, the most popular methods of re-reading and interpreting the Bible in India (chapter IV), analysis of the equivalent of the Holy Spirit’s name which was used in the translation of the First Letter to the Corinthians into Hindi (chapter V).

Celem pracy jest określenie, w jaki sposób tłumaczenie terminu „Duch Święty” na "Pawitr Atma", które występuje w języku hindi i jest związane z filozofią adwaita wedanty, wpływa na poznanie trzeciej Osoby Boskiej z Pisma Świętego przez indyjskich katolików.Praca magisterska zawiera: zarys historii chrześcijaństwa na Subkontynencie Indyjskim (rozdz. I), opis struktury Odnowy w Duchu Świętym i jej pojawienia się w Indiach (rozdz. II), określenie dziedziny, jaką jest indyjska teologia chrześcijańska (rozdz. III), charakterystykę Pisma Świętego oraz jego roli w życiu katolika, krótki przegląd problemów związanych z tłumaczeniem Biblii, szczególnie zaś w odniesieniu do kultury indyjskiej, najpopularniejsze sposoby odczytywania i interpretacji Pisma Świętego w Indiach (rozdział IV) oraz analizę ekwiwalentu znaczeniowego "atma", który został użyty w przekładzie Pierwszego Listu Do Koryntian na język hindi do wyrażenia pojęcia „Duch Święty” (rozdział V).
