Legal framework for Occupational Health and Safety in the healthcare sector - analysis of challenges and prospects

Niniejsza praca ma na celu przybliżenie tematyki bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy w sektorze medycznym. Celem pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na istotne kwestie związane z ochroną bezpieczeństwa i zdrowia oraz zapewnieniem godnych warunków pracy w przeciążonym i niedofinansowanym sektorze opieki zdrowotnej, który zmaga się z licznymi problemami. Opisane są również szanse na rozwój branży i perspektywy pozytywnych zmian. Praca stale zwraca uwagę na rozległość i zróżnicowanie przepisów oraz specyfikę samego sektora.Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na analizie teoretycznej tego tematu, zwracając uwagę na definicje, takie jak ochrona pracy czy środowisko pracy, istniejące regulacje krajowe oraz europejskie, a także opis specyfiki branży. Drugi rozdział opisuje istniejące oraz możliwe przyszłe wyzwania dla BHP oraz sektora medycznego. Analizuje bezpieczeństwo pacjentów i personelu, identyfikuje zagrożenia i problemy oraz przedstawia istniejące statystyki. Trzeci rozdział koncentruje się na rozważeniu perspektyw i możliwych zmian regulacyjnych, a także podkreśla potrzebę współpracy krajowych i międzynarodowych instytucji oraz konieczność stałej edukacji i budowania świadomości wśród personelu.

This thesis aims to introduce the topic of occupational health and safety in the healthcare sector. The aim of the work is to highlight important issues related to health and safety protection and decent working conditions in an overburdened and underfunded healthcare sector, which is facing many problems. Opportunities for the development of the industry and prospects for positive changes are also described. The work constantly draws attention to the breadth and diversity of the regulations and the specificities of the sector itself.The first chapter focuses on a theoretical analysis of the topic, focusing on definitions such as occupational safety and the working environment, existing national and European regulations, as well as a description of the specifics of the industry. The second chapter describes the current and possible future challenges for OSH and the healthcare sector. Analyzes patient and staff safety, identifies hazards and problems, and presents existing statistics. The third chapter focuses on considering the perspectives and possible regulatory changes, emphasising the need for cooperation between national and international institutions and the need for continuous education and awareness-raising among staff.
