Art and creativity in pedagogy and art therapy - a comparative analysis

Poniższa praca magisterska pt. „Sztuka i twórczość w pedagogice i arteterapii- analiza porównawcza” zajmuje się zakresem występowania sztuki i twórczości w pedagogice oraz arteterapii w celu dokonania analizy porównawczej terapii przez sztukę oraz wychowania przez sztukę. W pracy omówiono pięć wybranych obszarów, w których zastosowanie znajdują sztuka i twórczość. Są to: arteterapia oraz wchodzące w skład nauk pedagogicznych: pedagogika kultury, pedagogika twórczości, edukacja artystyczna oraz, w ramach ostatniego obszaru, pozostałe niezależne, przykładowe metody pedagogiczne, angażujące sztukę i twórczość. Celem pracy jest wskazanie różnic w metodach, celach i głównych założeniach tych obszarów, a także znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy arteterapią jest już wszelkie zastosowanie sztuki w pedagogice, czy jednak arteterapia jest -również i w praktyce- odrębną dziedziną. Do napisania pracy została wykorzystana literatura z zakresu pedagogiki, arteterapii i psychologii. Analiza oraz porównanie literatury pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie wniosków, iż arteterapia jest odrębną dziedziną od wszelkich metod pedagogicznych wykorzystujących sztukę, ponieważ hasła „terapia przez sztukę” i „wychowanie przez sztukę”, nie są synonimami, a angażowanie sztuki i twórczości nie czyni z góry danej metody arteterapią. Również i pedagogika posiada swoje metody bliskie sztuce, które z racji uznania dla pierwotnej i naturalnej ekspresji twórczej dziecka, są odrębne, suwerenne i nie są arteterapią, a więc nie powinny być z nią mylone. Analiza porównawcza pozwoliła zatem na stwierdzenie, iż arteterapia i metody wykorzystujące sztukę i twórczość w pedagogice to niezależne obszary.

This master's thesis, titled "Art and creativity in pedagogy and art therapy - a comparative analysis" examines the presence of art and creativity in pedagogy and art therapy with the aim of conducting a comparative analysis of therapy through art and education through art. The thesis discusses five selected areas where art and creativity are applied. These are: art therapy, and within the field of pedagogical sciences: cultural pedagogy, creativity pedagogy, art education, and, within the last area, other independent, exemplary pedagogical methods involving art and creativity. The aim of the thesis is to identify the differences in methods, goals, and main assumptions of these areas, as well as to answer the question of whether any application of art in pedagogy can be considered art therapy, or if art therapy is, in practice, a separate field. Literature from the fields of pedagogy, art therapy, and psychology was used to write the thesis. Analysis and comparison of the literature allowed for the conclusion, that art therapy is a distinct field from any pedagogical methods that utilize art, because the terms "therapy through art" and "education through art" are not synonymous, and engaging art and creativity does not automatically make a method art therapy. Pedagogy also has its own methods closely related to art, which, due to the recognition of the child's primary and natural creative expression, are distinct, sovereign, and not considered art therapy, and therefore should not be confused with it. The comparative analysis thus allowed for the conclusion that art therapy and methods utilizing art and creativity in pedagogy are independent areas.
