Fight with cyberterrorism and cybercrime in XXI century

Zagrożenie cyberterroryzmem powoli przestaje być już tylko pojęciem kojarzonym z literaturą science-fiction, a cyberprzestępczość rozrasta się w takim tempie, że straty wynikające ze szkodliwej działalności w sieci przekraczają wartość globalnego czarnego rynku marihuany, kokainy i heroiny razem. Ta praca jest charakterystyką tych pojęć, związanych z nimi zagrożeń, oraz rozważań na temat ochrony państw i społeczeństwa przed atakami w cyberprzestrzeni.Począwszy od genezy społeczeństwa informacyjnego i związanych z nim inicjatyw, przez próbę zdefiniowania cyberterroryzmu, historię ataków na systemy informatyczne, rozważań nad działalnością organizacji przestępczych w sieci oraz metod i sposobów działania cyberprzestępców, dotrzemy do najbardziej wrażliwych elementów współczesnych państw, czyli infrastruktury krytycznej oraz strategii jej ochrony ze strony zarówno Unii Europejskiej, której członkiem jest Polska, jak i USA, czyli kraju wyznaczającego kierunki w walce z terroryzmem i będącego najbardziej narażonym na ataki zarówno te konwencjonalne jak i w cyberprzestrzeni.

Threat of cyberterrorism slowly ceases to be only a concept associated with science-fiction literature, and cybercrime is expanding at such a pace that the losses resulting from the malicious activity in the cyberspace exceeds the value of global black market of marijuana, cocaine and heroin together. This thesis is the characteristic of these concepts, associated threats, and reflections about the protection of state and society against attacks in cyberspace.Starting with the origins of the information society and related initiatives, through attempt to define cyberterrorism, the history of attacks on systems, reflections on activities of criminal organizations in the network, methods and ways of cybercriminals activity, we get to the most vulnerable elements of modern states i.e. critical infrastructure and strategies for the protection in both the EU, which Poland is a member and the U.S., the country which designate the directions in the fight against terrorism and the country who is most vulnerable to attack in the conventional ways aswell as in the cyberspace.
