Lithological characteristic of the Upper Triassic rocks from the High – Tatric series (Western Tatra Mts.) – stocktaking and documentation of the rocks collection.

Celem pracy było opisanie, scharakteryzowanie oraz segregacja okazów skalnych z pięciu profili litologicznych z rejonu Czerwonych Żlebków, Doliny Smytniej oraz Żlebu pod Bobrowiec w Tatrach Zachodnich. Zostały opisane okazy z triasu górnego (kajper, retyk) oraz triasu środkowego. Kolekcja została przekazana przez Instytut Nauk Geologicznych Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w Krakowie. W toku prac wykonano dokumentację zdjęciową oraz szczegółowe opisy makroskopowe i mikroskopowe płytek cienkich. Środkowy trias jest reprezentowany głównie przez szare dolomity i wapienie oraz podrzędnie mułowce. Występują często struktury pedogeniczne i deformacyjne oraz ślady rozproszonej materii organicznej. Osady kajpru to głównie czerwone mułowce oraz piaskowce. Podrzędnie występują dololutyty. Pojawia się także laminacja pozioma w piaskowcach, a także struktury gruzłowe w dololutytach. Osady retyku to głównie piaskowce, podrzędnie szare mułowce. W piaskowcach pojawia się laminacja pozioma oraz rzadziej uziarnienie frakcjonalne. W mułowcach zachowane są szczątki mikrokonkrecji żelazistych oraz duże konkrecje żelaziste.

The aim of the work was to describe, characterize and segregate rock specimens from five lithological profiles from the region Czerwone Żlebki, Dolina smytnia and Żleb pod Bobrowiec in the Western Tatra Mts..The specimens from the Upper Triassic (Keuper, Rhaetian) and the Middle Triassic have been described. The collection was donated by the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In the course of the work, photo documentation and detailed macroscopic and microscopic descriptions of thin sections were made.The Middle Triassic is represented mainly by gray dolomites and limestones and subordinate mudstones.There are commonly pedogenic and deformation structures and traces of dispersed organic matter.The sediments of the Keuper are mainly red mudstones and sandstones. Dololutites are subordinate. There is also horizontal lamination in sandstones as well as nodular structures in dololutites. The Rhaetian sediments are mainly sandstones and subordinate grey mudstones.In sandstones occurs horizontal lamination and less frequently normal grading. In mudstones, the remains of ferruginous microconcretions and large concretions are preserved.
