Stress and burnout syndrome among police officers

Nie ulega wątpliwości, że praca policjanta wiąże się z dużym natężeniem czynników stresowych. Niniejsza praca powstała w celu przeanalizowania problemu jakim jest stres oraz wypalenie wśród funkcjonariuszy policji. Pierwsza część pracy wyjaśnia pojęcie takie jak stres, prezentuje modele stresu organizacyjnego, czynniki wpływające na powstanie sytuacji stresowej oraz jak sobie z nimi radzić. Rozważania drugiego rozdziału dotyczą pojęcia wypalenia zawodowego. Przedstawiono w nim definicje wskazane przez literaturę przedmiotu, przyczyny oraz skutki jego powstawania a także odniesiono się do innych problemów, często mylonych z syndromem burnout. W dalszej części pracy scharakteryzowano funkcjonariusza policji oraz z jakimi spotyka się trudnościami w pracy zawodowej. Całość pracy podsumowały badania, których celem było zbadanie czy stres i wypalenie zawodowe występują w grupie zawodowej jaką są funkcjonariusze policji. Praca została sporządzona w oparciu o literaturę najwybitniejszych badaczy tej dziedziny, tj. M. Maslach, H. Seyle, H. Freudenbergera, J.F. Terelaka i innych.

There is no doubt that the work of a police officer is associated with a high level of stress factors. This diploma thesis was created to analyze the problem of stress and burnout among police officers. The first part of the diploma thesis explains the concept of stress, presents models of organizational stress, factors influencing the emergence of a stressful situation and how to deal with them. The considerations of the second chapter concern the concept of occupational burnout. It presents the definitions indicated by the literature on the subject, the causes and effects of its formation, and also refers to other problems often confused with the burnout syndrome. In the further part of the diploma thesis, a police officer and the difficulties he encounters in his professional work are characterized. The whole was summarized by research, the aim of which was to examine whether stress and occupational burnout occur in the professional group of police officers. The diploma thesis was prepared on the basis of the literature of the most outstanding researchers in this field, i.e. M. Maslach, H. Seyle, H. Freudenberger, J.F. Terelak and others.
