The Origins and Status of Russian Oligarchs During the Presidencies of Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin

Praca opowiada o Genezie i Statusie rosyjskich oligarchów od czasu upadku ZSRR do roku 2004. W pracy opisana jest rosyjska transformacja ustrojowa i jej wpływ na utworzenie się rosyjskej oligarchii. W kolejnej części pracy opisane są stosunki władzy a przede wszystkim prezydenta Jelcyna z oligarchami. W końcowej części pracy opisana jest droga Władimira Putina do władzy oraz zmiany w stosunkach władzy z oligarchią po uzyskaniu urzędu prezydenckiego przez Putina.

This dissertation aims to discuss the origins and status of Russian oligarchs since the collapse of the USSR until the year 2004. The work first describes the Russian political transformation and its influence on the formation of the Russian oligarchy. The next part of the paper presents the relations between political power, with a special emphasis put on the President Yeltsin, and the oligarchs. The final chapter of the work investigates Vladimir Putin's path to power and the changes in relations between the state authorities and the oligarchy after the election od Putin.
