Selected elements of social identity of the polish scouts instructors

Związek Harcerstwa Polskiego jest największą organizacją harcerską w Polsce posiadającą bogatą historię oraz określoną strukturę. Zrzesza ona ponad 100 tysięcy członków oraz stale rozwija się na terenie całego państwa. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie elementów tożsamości społecznej instruktorów i instruktorek Związku Harcerstwa Polskiego. Praca rozpoczyna się od rozważań na temat historii polskiego harcerstwa, a następnie przechodzi do współczesnej charakterystyki harcerskiego systemu wychowawczego oraz celów wychowawczych ZHP. Następnie zostają poruszone tematy etosu harcerskiego, tożsamości instruktorów organizacji oraz ich motywacji. Na koniec autorka podejmuje próbę definicji pojęcia tożsamości społecznej i wyodrębnia jej elementy. Wyróżnionymi elementami zostają rytuały i obyczaje, ognisko harcerskie, musztra, specyficzne dla grupy święta, strój, znaki i symbole, język i sposób komunikowania się oraz towarzyszące im wartości, które zostały omówione w ostatnim rozdziale. Analizie zostają poddane również motywacje badanych do bycia członkami organizacji oraz ich ocena metody wychowawczej stosowanej w ZHP. Badania zostały przeprowadzone za pomocą metody jakościowej w duchu paradygmatu interpretatywnego, a dokładniej fenomenologicznego na grupie dwunastu instruktorów i instruktorek Związku Harcerstwa Polskiego działających w Chorągwi Krakowskiej w wieki 18-26 lat i ze stażem minimalnym w organizacji liczącym 6 lat.

The Polish Scouting Association is the largest scouting organization in Poland with a rich history and a specific structure. It has over 100,000 members and is constantly developing throughout the country. The aim of the thesis is to present the elements of the social identity of instructors of the Polish Scouting Association. The work begins with reflections on the history of Polish scouting, and then moves on to the contemporary characteristics of the scout educational system and the educational goals of the Polish Scouting Association. The topic of the scout ethos as well as the instructors identity and motivation are discussed. Finally the author attempts to define the concept of social identity and distinguishes its elements.Highlighted elements are rituals and customs, a scout camp, drills, group-specific holidays, clothing, signs and symbols, language and communication, and the accompanying values, which were discussed in the last chapter. The respondents' motivations to be members of the organization and their assessment of the educational method used in the Polish Scouting Association are also analyzed. The research was carried out using a qualitative method in the spirit of the interpretative paradigm, and more specifically the phenomenological paradigm, on a group of twelve instructors of the Polish Scouting Association operating in the Krakow, aged 18-26 and with a minimum experience of 6 years in the organization.
