Representations of women in the Soviet Union in the nineteen twenties and thirties of the twentieth century

Praca dyplomowa poświęcona jest badaniu reprezentacji kobiet w ZSRR w latach dwudziestych i trzydziestych XX wieku. W pracy omówiono problemy kształtowania przez władzę radziecką wizerunku kobiety oraz wpływ tego procesu na funkcjonowanie systemu społecznego, a także na sytuację kobiet z różnych warstw społecznych.W pracy przeanalizowano materiały historyczne i wizualne, które odzwierciedlają reprezentację kobiet oraz kształtowanie wyobrażeń na temat ich roli w społeczeństwie. Omówiono koncepcje, które pokazują, że władza radziecka wykorzystywała narracje dotyczące kobiet oraz ruchy emancypacyjne tamtego okresu w celach propagandowych.Szczególną uwagę poświęcono analizie przemian legislacyjnych oraz ideologicznej wizji Włodzimierza Lenina i bolszewików w kontekście kształtowania polityki wobec kobiet, a także ich wpływu na codzienne życie, sposób myślenia oraz samoidentyfikację kobiet w społeczeństwie.Wykazano, że analizowane plakaty oraz wykorzystane źródła ukazują rozbieżność między reprezentacją kobiet a ich rzeczywistą pozycją społeczną.

The thesis is devoted to the study of the representation of women in the USSR in the nineteen twenties and nineteen thirties of the twentieth century. The work examines the problems of the formation of the image of women by the Soviet authorities and the impact of this process on the functioning of the social system, as well as on the situation of women from different social strata.The study analyzes historical and visual materials that reflect the representation of women and the formation of perceptions of their role in society. It also discusses concepts demonstrating that the Soviet authorities used narratives about women and the emancipation movements of that period for propaganda purposes.Particular attention is paid to the analysis of legislative transformations and the ideological vision of Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks in the context of shaping policies toward women, as well as their influence on women’s everyday lives, ways of thinking, and self-identification in society.It is concluded that the analyzed posters and sources reveal a discrepancy between the representation of women and their actual social position.
