Sytuacja socjolingwistyczna w Luksemburgu jest ściśle związana z migracją, która rozpoczęła się już w latach siedemdziesiątych XX wieku wraz z przybyciem do Księstwa robotników przemysłowych. Lata dziewięćdziesiąte przyniosły zmianę w drugim sektorze gospodarki, gdy Luksemburg stał się siedzibą sektora bankowego i instytucji europejskich. Niniejsza praca skupia się na wpływie, jaki osoby dojeżdżające codziennie do pracy zza granicy oraz obcokrajowcy przyjeżdżający do Luksemburga mają na rozwój języków tego kraju i ich codzienne użycie, a w szczególności na francuskojęzyczną prasę publikowaną w Księstwie. Analiza bierze pod uwagę słowa, zapożyczenia, neologizmy znalezione w wybranych gazetach i stara się wyjaśnić ich znaczenie oraz ich rolę w tekście.

The sociolinguistic situation in Luxembourg is strictly linked to the migration that started already in the seventies with industrial workers coming to the Duchy. The nineties brought a change in the secondary sector of the economy when Luxembourg became the head office of the banking sector and the European institutions. The dissertation focuses on the influence that cross-border commuters and foreigners coming to Luxembourg have on the development of local languages and their daily use, but more particularly on the French-speaking press published in the Duchy. The analysis takes into consideration words, borrowings, neologisms found in chosen newspapers and tries to explain their meaning and reason for their appearance in the text.

La situation sociolinguistique du Luxembourg est strictement liée à la migration qui a commencé déjà dans les années soixante-dix avec des travailleurs industriels venant au Duché. Les années quatre-vingt-dix ont apporté un changement du secteur secondaire quand le Luxembourg est devenu un siège du secteur bancaire et des institutions européennes. Le mémoire se focalise sur l’influence que les frontaliers et les étrangers venant au Luxembourg ont sur le développement des langues du pays et leur utilisation au quotidien, mais plus particulièrement, sur la presse francophone publiée au Duché. L’analyse prend en considération des mots, des emprunts, des néologismes trouvés dans les journaux choisis et essaie d’expliquer leur définition et la raison de leur apparition dans le texte.
